    What does this do?

It is number nine in the picture.

    http://www.partsland.com/index.cgi?N...RO-785-MAGNETO

My ski will not start. New battery, turns over fine. Something is draining the battery down to 6 volts when it is trying to start. On the red cable that goes from the battery to this part I will get 12 something volts, on the exit side of this part the red cable will read 6 something volts while trying to start. It also smells kinda burnt when I pulled it out.

Does anyone happen to have one I can buy? I was going to call partsland Tuesday to order one, hopefully they have them.

    Thanks

Yeah, but what does it do. Sorry, I'm not really all that smart when it comes to skis. I believe it is eating up my volts causing my ski not to start.

Also, can a bad voltage regulator cause there not me enough juice to fire up the ski?

it is the starter relay it ingages the starter . the regulator shouldn't cause it not to start .

Thanks! That was what I was looking for. I will have to order one Tuesday from Partsland, unless someone on here has one.

What is the problem exactly? Is the starter not turning, or is your battery being drained?

Battery being drained. Like it seems drained too much to spark the plugs. It will start if jumped from a car, ya I know it wasn't a good idea, with a lot of luck. One side of the relay reads 12+ volts while the other side reads only six. I am assuming that is too low to spark three plugs. Either way I need a new one cause I broke it taking it apart.

Also, reason I mentioned the regulator is, mine has what looks like a melted spot on the outside of it like it got too hot. Also seems that the wire going into the regulator has a lot of black junk like it got hot...but while I had it running I was showing 14+ volts making me think the regulator may be alright.

Battery does read 12+, and it is brand new since I thought that was the problem in the first place.

I just wanna be on the water......was even contemplating today buying a new ski from the dealer and working on this later, but I love this thing and I'm the fastest ski on the lakes around me.
