MFD stays on ALL the time

I finally got the mfd on my slt to work, the fuse in the box was all corroded. so i added an afermarket fuse to the wire and wired it in.

    Now the MFD works!

But it stays on all of the time. even with the lanyard pulled. I have to unhook the battery to shut it off.

what is it that activates the mfd? Is it triggered by voltage? because I am running the craft off of a jump start box instead of a regular battery while its in the garage, and the mfd shows 13.6 volts. would that cause it?

    any idears?

I just asked this question yesterday. The MFD's on my two skis also can not be turned off. I just replaced my fuses to get them working. I was told that it is supposed to stay on all the time. I don't get it either. It seems like it would drain the battery.

thats exactly what I thought. I just did a search and it seems that the clock and other functions are supposed to always run.
    I dont like it.

Has anyone tied the mfd power into the lanyard switch?

possibly wire in a 1/4 A fuse into it for the mfds power?

The LCD can't draw much more than my big display timer, it runs over a year on an AAA battery. I couldnt imagine an LCD running a lead acid battery dead in any less than 50 years.
