Newbie Question about handlebars on a 1998 GP1200
Hi everyone I have a question about handlebars on a 98 GP 1200.
I searched and found a few answers to my question but i figured if i asked i might get some different responses. I removed the stock yamaha cover on the bars. I race motocross so I want my ski to have the dirtbike bar look. So finally my question is: How do I fill the hole around the bars and cover the wires and buzzer?
Also where can i find a bar pad to fit the stock bars until I get aftermarket bars? Sorry about the long post.

hey curtis, I assume the hole youa re referring to is the hole around the handlebar neck and the cables etc... I just did this mod on my GPR and I used a piece of black plastic cut to fit and put on with 3M tape to hide it and make the hole removeable if needed. Also there is a company who makes covers, called generation x

Thanks for the responses. I can tell that this forum will be very helpful when I start doing mods on my ski.

I used wire loom to cover up the cables. You can get it at any auto parts store. I pulled the buzzer down through the hole in the steering bracket and tie wrapped it off underneath. You can still hear it, but you can't see it. As far as a crossbar pad, I can't help you there.
Here is a link that shows the wire loom cover, and the plate I had made to cover the hole. The handlebars are the Riva runabout 29".
