Gas tank removal
My neighbor has a 96 slt 780 and needs to remove the gas tank because of a very noticable crack and leaking gas. Does the motor have to be removed or can the tank be taken out from the front?

It comes out from the front storage area.
Just remove the hood, unbolt the tank, remove the fuel filler hose (completely), remove the fuel lines (marking their locations), disconnect electrical for fuel sender and remove that bad boy.

I was gonna say something really mean.
Can you see the crack? There has to be something you can patch it with, some fuel resistant epoxy?
Billy has the Loctite website memorized, right? Billy where are you!

Try this. I did this plastic welding procedure when I repaired the sending unit in my old Seadoo. Soldering iron and zip tie
a pic can be seen here
I would apply plenty of the plastic in that are you are repairing.
