New to the site...Honda F12x??? HELP!!

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the site and have a few questions if you have a minute to reply. I have a stock 2004 F12X and would like to perk it up a little, plus correct a problem. When I accelerate out of the hole and the front end rises, it seems to cavitate or "miss". Once thr nose is down, it runs fine. It also does this when I'm in a sharp u-turn and re-accelerating. So, would a new grate correct this? If so, what is the best one to get?

Second, I would like to get a little more top-end out of the ski. Normally the speedometer (which I know is not correct) shows top speed of 63 to 65 mph. Could I realistically get 66+ mph out of this machine and still have a reliable running ski?

How about the K&N air filter system? Any good or a waste of money?

All of your suggestions are greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for the help. Hope to see some of you at the Mud Bug Nationals in Morgan City, LA.

    Hi, Karl and welcome

You can get a Solas 17/29 prop and that will take care of the cavitation.

As far as going 66 MPH, im the only one that has Kits that will get you there and a whole lot more. E-mail me and I'll send you some options.

    welcome Karl,
the holeshot cav will disappear as shawn says but as soon as you add HP the HOP is back.. body english works on many ski's but I'm not fat enough..

the F needs a drop down nozzle or any trim system imo.

    Morning Dav and Shawn,

First off, thanks for the info. I'm totally unfamiliar with prop sizes, grates, and their effects on performance. So, if you don't mind me picking your brain, I'd appreciate the education.............

If I change the prop to a Solas 17/29 (which I have no idea what 17/29 stands for) to help out of the hole, will that cut top end speed? I've always been told that there is no gain without a loss somewhere.

Also, any thoughts on a K&N air filter? I have K&N's on my motorcycle, truck, and car and like them. But, how do they perform on skis?

So, anyone willing to pitch in a couple of thoughts on the matter is invited to join in. Thanks abunch!!

Top speed will stay the same. Minor loss (.5-1mph) if any at all. Better low end.

NO advantage for the KN on your year on ski. The 17/29 is the manufacture pitch of the prop blades. Front of the blade is 17 and the trailing edge is 29 pitch. These numbers vary slightly for each manufacture.
