Lets analyze some more piston wash
Okay, so after blowing up the 785 in about as short a time period as possible, I am a little concerned that I am running my 1050 too close to the edge.
Here are some pics of the wash and the domes. I am going to put on the one piece head with the cooling mod today so I figured I should check the wash while I was at it.
I would say they look okay, but maybe a tad lean?? I guess I am not real good at reading this stuff especially when it has some time on it. Boat runs pretty good but I would hate to just blow it one day.
40 pilot jets, all other jets stock
92 octane domes
about 70 hours

I, personally, would be scared to run that on a cooler day. I would rather run fat forever than .1 mph faster for 10 minutes. How much could you possible lose from going up one size?

Maybe I am looking at it wrong but to me it looks rich like the piston wash goes all of the way around the outside edge of the piston leaving only a dark carbon part in the center of the piston. If I read everything correctly the clean wet part of the piston is the unburnt or rich mixture of fuel and the carbon part in the middle is the lean part meaning the outside edge should have 6 or 8 spots the size of your fingernail clean and the rest carbon black for perfect wash.

Oops sorry I should have blown the pictures up some. That must be from normal riding and not alot of WOT riding I think thats what someone else posted causes the not very clear edge on your piston wash. After I blew them up some I could see there where some spots but only 2 small ones by the ports
