    92 sl650 water pressure

I'm wondering what the water pressure should be. I took the 650 for a spin and went through some thick weeds and it got hot and died. Cleared the weeds and it was hard to start and when it did start no water comes out of the pisser hole. I disconnected the quick flush and the water is pumping through, let it idle for a while and I put my hands on all cylinders and they were OK. Only air comes out the pisser. I'm thinking the pump isn't putting out enough pressure??

the water pressure is dictated by the jet pump flow but the pisser should flow! you cloged somthing

Check the opening for the cooling tube off the pump. Some came with a screen, others didn't. I'll bet you have a weed stuck in there. Or disconnnect the cooling hose from under the seat and see if you can blow threw it. Also check the stinger fitting on the top of the exhaust pipe. It's a small hole that can plug easily too.

Can you explain to me how the jet pump works? How does it give propulsion and also go to the engine for cooling? Thanks, Jerry

The water flow after the impeller thru the venture creates a positive pressure to supply the engine with cooling.

That is the pop-off water valve and should be replace as it keeps the system full at idle.
