First of all sorry if this is in the wrong place.(newbie)

I have a customer with a 3D Sea doo when he is doing sharp turns the ski looses a lot of power. Has somebody had the same probleme and what is the cure for this poor customer?

    2005 110HP 3d?

    2006 130HP 3d?

let's find out which motor you are talking about first and we'll see what we can come up with.

He is loosing power or just feels like its not moving in the direction he's going fast enough.

is this coming from the customer's testimony? Or have you seen or ridden the symptoms with your own eyes?

I will be testing the ski this afternoon and get all the facts in line for at this stage it is the customer saying this.

I spoke to the importer of SeaDoo to South Africa and they say they also have one doing the same thats loosing power the moment you turn the steering wheel.

    Thanks for all replay's

Just by making sharp turns the increased water resistance will slow the ski down considerably and it will feel like it is loosing power. This is especially true with the marginal 110 hp 800 engine.

I would guess that a throttle cable is loose and when you turn the bars the cable does not stay tight.

I watched a bunch of people riding 3d's and when you turn it slides out easily. The sponsons aren't very good on that model. Who knows he may be turning sharp enough so that the intake in the bottom is sucking air. When you turn or lean the hull tips to the side and the intake is exposed to air, and if you can't stay hooked up to the water, you aren't going anywhere. He could be not hooking up 100% in the turns and that can cause lower speed. Also like stated before, when you turn the hull cuts into the water and there is much more resistance. Tell him to buy the 06 951 di, and I'm sure he'll like it much better.

Ok this is wat we did yesterday:

1: ran the ski in a straight-line flat out for about 800 meters with no problems.

2: ran the ski flat out and start doing a small turn (raduis of about 100 meters) to the left, the motor will start to surge (rev up and down) and you can hear it doing it. The moment you start to go straight again it will stop. The turns are at about a 5-10 deg turn on the handle bars.

3: the above did not happen when doing the same to the right. (The importers of SeaDoo have one doing it to the right also)

4: when we did the hard turning test the ski will be much stronger in the right turns out the water as the left turns. So I think that it also surging at the bottom end I can not hear it doing it.

5: when we did the sharp turning we tryed not to expose the bottom to air

5: placed the ski on the trailer and tried to repeet test 2 but with no luck

6: placed it back in the water redid test 2 and it was still doing it.

I have never heard of this.

Thanks for all the advice and keep it comming.

    Markus
