    piston wash

    heres some pics of a couple of my 785's pistons let me know what you think the first set are of my 98 stock 785 the second set is of my boat with hotseat pipes the second boat was running around 7950-8000 at 3/4 throttle when i crack it wide open it drops to around 7650-7750 . let me know what you think .

    The top set looks pretty good right?

    Not only do I think they are they lean, I think they are detonating-observe the death grey/silver color at the edges of the pistons.
    I say more AND higher octane fuel before something burns down??
    Maybe too much timing?

    The first two, one looks rich and the other just about right but I think I'd go a hair fatter.

    #1 is too rich. #2 some people will say a little too rich, I say perfect. I run my stuff "fat" to be safe. #3 there is only a tiny amount of wash and like Al said it looks like deto around the outside - same for #4 and #5 have no wash that I can see, way too lean.
