Top Speed Sucks
i only get 64.9gps at 7550rpm.
I am 100kg,ski has 10hours,fuel buzzer was on,salt water,air temp was 30c.
Oil level is checked.
Break in was by the book.
Ski is completely stock.
Silicones not cleared yet but i dont expect a 3mile gain from that.
Where are my advertised 68mph?
Any ideas?Why do i get only 7550rpm?
I read that some of you are getting 7750 from stock skis.True?

I am only getting 65 to 66 on mine now. It has the wedge, Jim's ride plate and ram air mod. Yours may be like mine. Not one of the faster ones.

I was just at the shop today. My mechanic (who i trust a great deal) told me that any ski made since 1999 regardless of manufacturer has a governor set to 65 mph.

I was told same thing bout the gov. Maybe it has one for a better reason then just going fast though or I think everyone would know about it and had taken it off by now lol.. maybe it prevents something from breaking Im thinking...

Good grief ... well that is why most of us who have been around awhile never trust any dealer PWC mechanic. That gets said too often and there is not one shred of truth in that statement ... no ski ever built has had a speed governor built into it ... what would it even read?? The water speedos are horribly inconsistent from ski to ski and inaccurate anyway. I had a 1999 Ultra 150, 2000 GPR, 2004 GPR, 2005 RXP ... all ran over 65 mph (with mods).
This is a prime example of the unbelievable BS that you hear if you actually listen to dealers ... dealers at virtually every boat show were also stating with a straight face that the Ultra would go over 80 mph too, I heard two of them myself. Dealers generally are THE WORST place on this earth to actually learn about PWCs ...
