    How to check wear ring

Does anyone know how to check the wear ring without tearing anything of the ski. And if you do have to tear into it what is the procedure.

use a feelers gage, it should have .01-.02 inches clearance (.04 is max limit)

Thank you Nitro. If there is damage then it will have a clearance issue correct?

Yes, it will. Also cavation, and small particals in the water, will wear it down over time.

Wow cavitation will wear it down.!? Didn't know that, so during all the tricks and jumping and what not, when you noticed that the ski has cavitated releasing the throttle is the best thing to do. I have been doing that and have told the family that has rode the same thing, but have read different. Interesting and thanks for the help.

I will try to find my old impeller out of my polaris. It has burns on it from cavatation. Keep in mind it takes many years, and hours to happen.

Here is a couple of pics of cavation damage on an impeller. You can see it makes the blades weak. This came off of a 94 SL650, so as you can see it is 12 years old, it dose take time.
