Chickahominy & James River Run on June 30
I'll be guiding a group down the Chickahominy River to the James River near Jamestown and on to the Ghost Fleet and back. Lots of smooth water until you get to the James, which can provide a wide variety of riding conditions. The Ghost Fleet is a bunch of retired naval ships on the James River before you get to Hampton.
We will meet and put in at 10:00 a.m. at the Chickahominy Riverfront Park. It's located at the mouth of the Chickahominy and only 23 miles to the Ghost Fleet. The ramp fee there is $5 per boat unless you're a James City County resident then it's $4. They are located at 1350 John Tyler Highway, Williamsburg, VA 23185 and their website is http://www.james-city.va.us/recreati...miny-park.html. Google maps for directions is http://www.google.com/maps?q=1350+Jo...i=map&ct=title.
We will make the run to the Ghost Fleet, then back to the Chickahominy and on to the restaurant at River's Rest Marina. Their website is http://www.riversrest.com/ and there is a menu on their website too.
After lunch riders can return to the launch point or explore some of the back waters and creeks. There is an awesome place to ride in a creek where a friend of mine has property. There's a couple of eagles that live on that creek as well. Some fun flat water back there too with lots of twists and turns!
PM me if you plan on coming. Thanks!
