try taking out the plug that goes into the front mag cover, if the fuse doesn't blow then your problem may well be a bad or shorted out stator

Did you check the 15 amp fuse in the rear electrical "black" box? Maybe you blew that one when you plugged the wiring back into the front stator cover? My 99 GSX-L started blowing the 15 amp fuse in the electrical box last weekend. Took the front cover off and found a bad stator. Tomorow I will be replacing the stator and the bendix.

it blew the fuse that goes to the ignition box in the front, thats why the main batt 15amp didn't blow...

its a bad stator i've come to realize... and i've only had the boat for a week

Same thing happened to my wife on her GSXL when she first got it.

Is what happens is you have the motor running and you hit the red start/kill button to kill the ski...then before the motor has time to stop turning, you hit the button again. This act shears teeth off the starter bendix and the piece then gets into the stator shorting out 2 sections.

Take the front cover off and the stator will come out with the cover. Be sure to check the magneto on the front of the motor for damage.
