You want the oil level between the two bends on the stick with a hot engine.

thanks hulk, but the tempature of the engine has no influence on how the oil is read, oil is independent of heat and does not expand much when warmer temps are applied.

ask how to check the oil and argue with a correct answer from someone that's probably checked oil a 1000 times? look in your owners manual, it will tell you the same thing about the engine being warm....

When my oil level is on the bottom bend on a cold engine it ends up in the middle of the stick when the engine is hot.
3.5 quarts is what I normally get out after doing the cranking procedure 3 times.

That may or may not be true, and in this case it is irrevelant. You need to run the engine for a few minutes to get the oil spread out all over the engine. Remember this is a dry sump oil system, its not like your old 1970 pick up with a 350 in it.

You check the oil differently on these machines.

    Thumbs down

clearly you are a pro at the dry sump oil system and hence have no reason to need a shop manual
