Thermostat mod?-good or waste
I'm thinking of adding the riva s3 charger to my set up. Should i add a thermostat mod to the list? Or should i not bother with it?
Water temp is about 83 currently. Its been pretty hot out the last couple of days.
What do you guys think? If yes, which one?

Stock thermostat 188
Modified thermostat 158
I'd go for for it. Both Riva and RR give you the same results. The Riva one you build with the existing housing and is cheaper. The RR is a little more expensive and ready to bolt it up and go, so it's really your call.

I think it is a very worthwhile modification to do. I used to think otherwise, until I installed mine and noticed how much cooler it runs.

What performance gains with this if any?

Unless you ride in the Artic circle--install the 158 degree thermostat. Pluses are---your engine willrun cooler adding to the life of your oil---less chance for detonation---which you would never hear anyway because your ECU retards timing ---- when this happens its cutting down on horse power and top speed. Also inside hull temp will be lower reducing external heat soak on your intercooler, its piping, and your intake manifold.

Does boil off still have an oppertunity to happen with the lower thermostat? Also, has anyone tried a coolant additive, or wetting agent? I have used a couple of redline products in my vettes with good sucess, but not sure in these things. Wouldn't want to be the first to try it...

I've been running with Water Wetter for over 20 hrs w/ no probs. With out a temp gauge, not sure of its effect, but based on positive results experienced with motorcycle, I assume it's helping.

Did you guys add water wetter, or did you do a complete flush, and then add only water wetter and water minus coolant?
