Jerry, t-stat install?
I have the 158 degree t-stat coming and had a few questions. Is there a gasket in there? Do I need a new one? Is it just draining the coolant, taking off the seven bolts, and removing / re-attaching the hoses? Did you put thread-locker on the bolts? Torque settings when re-installing?
I am almost debating about saving this install for the off- season. Temps rarely get to 80 in the summer in Michigan, and water temp hits a max of low 70s usually, so if this is a potentially time-consuming job, I might put it off til winter, unless you think it will really help my setup.

Do it now as it really helps.
Just drain your coolant, remove the existing hoses and unbolt it. There is a seal already on your new thermostat.
Some of the hoses have oetiker clamps on them. Just pry them off and replace them with stainless steel hose clamps when you reinstall.

Jerry, how do you rate this job compared to the SC / IC installs?

Jarrett, it's not too bad. You have to pull your RR plumbing back off to get to it. That isn't much of an issue though. The bottom bolts are kind of tough as you can't see them. kinda like the bottom bolt on the SC.
I think you need to suck it up and go for it

Pfft, if I ever see a 4tec engine again, it'll be too soon Thanks for the info.
FYI-waiting to hear back from SD on the "hypothetical" ingested ceramic washer issue. Should have something in a few.
