    I thought I did good till yesterday..

    I took a 700 and dropped it into my 95 750 hull. During this winter I went through the motor , replaced all the gaskets, seals, took the 018 cylinders off and replaced with 009'S and new pistons,rings, bearings, c'clips, rebuilt the carbs.I did a vacuum test before dropping motor into hull and everything seemed good. I ran my motor with premix at 40:1 and after about 35hrs of run time I started losing power. I pulled the heads yesterday and found the front piston pitted ,along with the head. The spark plugs looked good thats the baffling part. Heres some pics tell me what you guys think might have happened. I'm going to try a vac test later next week. Or do you think something might have happened to the carb on this cylinder?

    What CDI did you use and where is your timing set?
    What octane fuel were you using?
    The left cylinder looks a hair lean for pump gas and the other was probably tooooo lean, got hot, deto'd and well the rest is history.
    Just my pennies worth.

    Al, the cdi for the 018's and 009's is the same, as the share the same port demensions.
    The only difference would be the jetting. The 009's require richer jetting due to the boost port.

    So in essence, trading the 018's for the 009's wasn't necassary.
