    03 Stg 2 not getting to Speed

    ski is a complete slug out of the hole, and GPS's at a mere 64 MPH, don't have a TACH.

    things we have checked:

    PVs = all opening properly and in sync
    Reeds = look like brand new
    EFI controller = disconnected it and ski still acts the same
    ski has D-plate
    prop spins freely in drive line with prugs out
    TPS is correct
    Shoe is properly in place.
    plugs all look even and brown

    I'm at a LOSS any Ideas would be very helpful

    Ski was running grate up until about 2 tanks of gas ago, now has the problems.

    Have you checked compression ?

    Did you pull the pump and check the prop ?

    I looked in the intake grate and the prop has some good nicks in it, but nothing Major, like a bent blade.

    I wouldn't think you would be able to get great top speed with this prop, But it shouldn't be as bad as it is on the bottom.

    look for signs of an exhaust leak in hull

    go for a ride with the PVs manually set open (disconnect servo motor wire and manually rotate wheel to open PVs)

    go for a ride with the PVs manually set closed (disconnect servo motor wire and manually rotate wheel to open PVs)

    beg borrow or steal a tach and get a rpm reading - what does OEM tach read?


    this sounds like a PV problem, have you actually removed the covers to all 3 PVs

    I didn't mention though, the Ski runs Great on the trailer, in the water are the problems

    I have another prop to try, but trying to think motor right now, since the EFI's and reeds are all out of the ski

    Do you have a trued/welded crankshaft??? I fought a problem very similar to this for about two months and the crankshaft ended up being out of phase causing two back cylinders to be about 17 degrees retarded on timing....

    Compression will be still be strong if this is the case....

    crank was replaced about 5 months ago, but the crank that replaced it was not T&W'd
