R-12 ride plate (non turbo) mod question

    hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone has a moded ride plate for a R-12 who could tell me how much materal is left in the rear bolt holes after the cut.

I set up a fixture to hold the plate, and I have it set for 0 off the front to 1/8 off the rear on my Bridgeport, the only thing is It seems theres going to be less then 1/8 of materal left in the rear bolt holes when im done.

is 1/8 the correct amount to take off or should i go less?

any info on this would be appreciated.

Try a 5 degree pump wedge.....good for 2 mph. Costs $99. Also, fill up the bolt holes in the ride plate for .5 mph.

my fixture has the angle built in for the F and R ski which are both different. I've done over 30 ride plates with them but that was 4 years ago when i build it. I would have to measure a plate to tell you the exact numbers, and i don't have one not mounted.

Do the angle and try it. all setups are a little different depending on your power and ski setup. You may have to add shims or cut more.

I do plates for $65 plus shipping. the fixture i use is proven from the test of time.

ok , I angled it down to a little under a 1/8 at the very back of the rear mounting pad
the front 0 at the tip of the front pad.

the rear bolt holes have a good 1/8 left, I could of done a little more but better safe, I can do more if need be.

it all looks good and I'll be testing it this weekend.

I also 400 grit and hand polished the ride plate to a smooth shine and took off all rough edges, and Im going to fill the holes smooth also.

now Im hoping that shiny smooth isnt a bad thing for a ride plate??..

    on a side note,
one thing I do know is they must have a monkey working in hondas shop smearing the silicone on the intake grate and ride plate, and the whole bottom of the hull.

2 hours worth of cleaning off all that crap. /sigh

I'll give a GPS number soon.

i thought the best thing for the R plate was to remove it.

And replace with an RX plate.

It's the other way around.......replace the R12X plate w/ the R12 plate on the R12X; it's shorter in length by about 4-5 inches.

the R-12 (non turbo) plate is shorter then the R12x (turbo)

I also think the Wedge is a little greater angle (thinner/more slant towards the rear) on the R-12 (non turbo) then the R-12x(turbo) but I could be wrong seeing I dont have a turbo plate on hand to compair.
