    Pro 785

    Hi guys,

Can someone give me the main differences to look for between a 1997 pro slx 785 and a 1998.

I have been offered a pro 785 and have been told its a 1998 but it looks like the project 97 785 on here.

what is the best oil to run it on?

And when compression testing it what is the correct compression?

    Thanks for the help.

really theres no noticeable differences they have a few differeent stickers the prop is better in the 97 the cdi is better in the 98 and the 98 hull is alittle better they didn't crack in the back other wise both great ski's the compression should be around 120 lb.

similarly I'm taking a 97 Pro 785 for a potential pre-purchase test run this weekend
some-one with more of a clue can confirm, but I think I'm expecting between 110 & 120 PSI compression with no more than +- 5% difference between pots, when I test-it

    motor's been re-built 30 hours ago
    completely re-wired, new CDI
    .
what other quirky stuff should I be looking for on these?
I've seen the pictures of the cracks they get at the rear of footwells

yes compression can be from 110 on the low side and up to 200lb depending on what type of head is on it . make sure she's turning at least 7600 rpms

    Cheers for the information.

Here is the link to the ski that has been offered to me

    http://www.nenevalleywaterski.co.uk/polaris_785_pro.htm

There are a few pictures of it, any ideas what year from the pictures?

Not seen it my self yet, but looks in very good condition and has only been used on lakes and with only 19 hours.

    What do you reckon?

    Okay thanks,

I was hoping it was a 98 as I have heard that they are stronger but they are faster and handle better is this true?

Would you recomend buying it if I was going to do alot of jumping surf?

    Would it hold up?

    Cheers

the pro will hold up...i jump surf with mine ALL the time.... only thing that broke from jumping surf was the exhaust pipe mounts....i got better ones after they broke....

and keep an eye on those bolts on the manifold...they love to leak..lol.
