    first ride after modifications

well I got out on the water for the first time this year, finished up the mods to my sl750, With a 14/19 skat impeller, op ride plate, and a r&d intake i lost about 6 mph and only going about 46mph from the gps,i spent about 2 hours tuning the carbs to get it right, i have no idea why so much speed was lost?!!!!!

What RPM were you turning? A 14/19 is for highly modified 750's. Maybe try the stock impeller and see what you get?

it's actually a 14/23 solas impeller, I have no idea what the rpms were, it did sound like it was less than stock though

I agree that big of a loss sounds like an impeller unless your rpm,s were still in range? I tried to double check your mods but my god it like 20 pages of posts!

Wedge won't affect RPM. You need to find out what RPM you have. A 14/23 sounds WAY too big. You only have bolt ons, try the stock impeller and repost your findings. RPM is key....

You'll need a tachometer. There were Tiny tachs in the Ebay BIN for $45 shipped, or a Polaris stocker. Why's your MFD not working? Also see what the stock impeller does while you're waiting for a tachometer.

if you get the TinyTach you need the commercial unit and be prepared to be disappointed until it totally craps out! Z

Yeah, Z is right, the only TinyTach that works with Polaris is the Commercial.

Should he be disappointed before the Tach dies, or after? Or both!

Mine sat outside all winter, and hasn't died yet. I did manage to scramble it the first time I hooked it up, but jamming a scalpel in the epoxy to short the battery terminals worked just fine.

Or, if you want a lesson in futility, get one of those optical tachometers, and try buzzing across your lake with no seat, bent over with one arm in the engine compartment, shooting the driveshaft! At least I had a few laughs.....
