I've got the Carbon Ring Line, but no Leaks

When you start seeing the "LINE" on the hull from the carbon ring. Is it time to replace?

I've never had a probelm with the ski taking on water. Can I just use the same one?

I'm not sure what you are talking about because the carbon ring does not come in contact with the hull.

But if you are not taking on water, and you are not cavitating, you can reuse the carbon ring.

Franko, I think he is talking about the waterline mark from rotating driveshaft, that would indicate a small leak, but nonetheless a leak...PR...

where the carbon seal is, it will leave a dark line/ring as if something was leaking and splattering around the hull. The only obvious spot you would see it is under the drive shaft where the boot is...PR...

Well you just HAD to go and ask, didn't you.

I'm a Machinery Engineer at one of the largest Petrochemical Complexes in the country. We have around 6,000 pumps and almost all of them have the same type of seal that's on a jet ski driveshaft.

    Mike
