    96 Sltx Carb Jetting

Heres What We Got,96 Sltx 1050 In Need Of Carbs, will Be Replacing The Stock 38's With 40's.as For Jetting Or Getting Close.i Figure The 99 Slx Specs To Start,62 Pilots,35 Mids,140,140,135 Mains.think The T-stat And Pop Off Spring Should Be Removed And The Holes In The Water Bar Opened Up Like The 99 And Up Triples.does This Setup Have The External Line To Supply Water To The Pto Cylinder???the More Info The Better Thnxs

good man , i recon that problem is crappy workman-ship on whoever rebuilt the carbs last

this rotten screw had me pissed .

so i also think the stock 142 142 138 would prolly be just fine maybe

i just cant wait till i see what she can really do .

    JETTING

Stock 99 Slx Jetting Is 62 Pilots,35 Mids,140,140,135.i Believe Going With 65 Pilots 42 Mids Will Make It Safe As Long As You Don't Do Any Long Wot Runs Until You Give It Time To Check Piston Wash.my Real Question Is What To Do With The Water Bar And T-stat.

    carbs

i believe the 96 is a boost port motor and a 99 isn't.seeing as how the 96 never came with 40's its going to be a best guess situation to start with.funny how no one else has chimed in.

    Doug,

I ran a '96 1050 w/ 009 cylinders (boost port) on stock jetted 01 1200 carbs. I didnt have the pistons drilled for the ports though...not sure how that will change the jetting. I was also running the stock '96 water bar. Had HSP 92 domes. Everything else was stock. Motor never burned down, and I ran the dog piss out of it. The mid jets were noticeably lean at 40s. I'd say at least 42s, if not 45. The smaller motor lacks vacuum, and cuts down on the signal to the carbs, obviously.
