    Cavitation diagnosis

    Hey guys,
I just bought an '06 GTI SE that has 51 hours on it and when I took it out today it cavitates REAL bad from a dead stop and can barely get a skier out of the water. Once it gets going it will hook up and go just fine. From what I've read on here its likely to be the wear ring? Can someone confirm this? If thats what it sounds like what is involved in getting to the ring to flip it over? I've never torn a pump apart before.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    It's real easy:

Stock wear ring clearance is around .006 and I think the Sea-doo spec is around .015 max.

only the white wear rings can be turned around. I'm not sure what wear ring yours has but if yours is black, one side is rounded and the other is flat.

if youv'e got a stock prop then you can turn them, cos they only use half of it, if you have an aftermarket prop, just look how much wear ring area is being used, if your only using 3/4 of the ring then turn it round,

you hit the throttle and don't go, at least not very fast. Like a slipping clutch in a car. Once you to get up to speed everything is fine, but your hole shot is almost non-existent.

Ok, so I took my pump off today to change the wear ring and what do I find? A mangled impeller and a super worn wear ring!!! damn barbs on the prop are so sharp i cut my finger on them... I went to yank the impeller off but to my disbelieve the tool I got from RIVA is WAY too small for my impeller, its p/n TOOL33, supposed to be for all seadoos except RXP right?

Anyone know what tool I need to get the prop off of my '06 GTI SE? The "TOOL33" I bought from RIVA was definately NOT the right one...

That prop looks cool. Ever thought about grinding concrete for a living?
