    My dog has style...

With his slippery switch vest and all...

GF was teaching him how to swim...Me being over protective, and the boat being 150ft from shore, i said carry him, so she put the vest on him.
    He didn't seem to happy...

never hold a dog in water, they can all swim. I learned as a kid holding a dog or coming to its "rescue" results in blood, scratches, and a dog sitting on top of you trying to stay afloat

he learned... but it took a while. Whenever he would jump in he would go straight for me or her and climb on us. We didnt teach him out near the boat, to much wake, there was a platform tied to a buoy about 30ft from shore where it wasnt as rough, and we put him on it, let him jump in and swim to us, then we'd turn him around and he'd swim back. started at about 10 ft out, went out to about 30 ft, any farther than that and he would try to swim to sure instead of us.

Had ot help him up on the platform though... he tried and flipped backwards. Was pretty funny.

I think its natural for any dog to swim just throw them in and they will figure it out! Even my cat can swim.

Actually not all dogs can swim. Pugs and bulldogs are among some that sink like rocks when u throw them into water.

I believe most mammals can swim. Some are alot better than others.

Throw my Pitbull into the water and he'll sink like a stone...if you can throw him in...heh...anyway....I tried that when he was a puppy ...after he rolled in a too-many-days-old-dead catfish...phew.

He won't go in past his chest now, on his own.

    He can swim...it ain't pretty.

When I was yonger I think I've tossed just about every species of mammal, bird, reptile, and amphibian native to Missouri in the water at one time or another. nothing sank except fish and turtles.
