    Runs on trailer but not in the water

    So after a weekend new engine install I take it out today for a test run. Got it off the trailer, idled over to the beach, started away from the beach idle, gave it some gas and died. Tried to start it and just wouldnt start. Got it off the water and on the trailer and pulled the plugs. They were a wet black. Took it home and tried to start it and it starts on first try...Did I flood it somehow? too rich? water in the tank?

    Any ideas?

    How much pre-mix do you have in the tank?
    Are you running the injection system with the pre-mix as well?
    What are your carb settings at this time?
    What compression do you have?

    air bleeds off

    Screw the air adjustment down to zero. Back off exactly 1.5 turns up. You will be in the correct ballpark. Tighter is leaner. Looser is richer. You will probably find 1 to 1.25 out is much closer at sea level.
    Read plugs after adjustments. Or just go 1.5 to 2 out and haul butt.
    It is imperative you break in the rings. Go check the LA Seeve website for specifics. Motorcycles are identical. If you dont you will surely be sorry. Too much idle is a disaster as well as too much steady rpm.

    Usually if it dies right as you accelerate it's lean, have you cleaned the carbs yet?
