    pulled head = new gaskets?

I pulled the head in my XLT 1200... Do I need to buy new gaskets for it?

If it's a must, OK, but I don't want to spend the $60+ and time waiting if I don't need to.

Unless they're boogered up, I've reused mine a ton of times. I clean it with brake cleaner, spray some ultra copper spray on both sides, and I've never had a problem.

clean it with a blade then rub oil on both sides set it in and torque the head.. i only used the copper on my exhaust gaskets, but it will work for both

    They seem fine...

I have that gasket cleaner stuff and also have copper spray-a-gasket...

I'll try to clean them with rags and a blade and see how they turns out.

Not to question RDH, but I'd be real careful about taking anything other than a rag and cleaning solution to the gasket. If you nick it with a blade, you could end up with leaks.

I plan on using a scraper and not an actual blade... a blade will be used only if something is stuck on.

    nope!

I had 2 pv pins off... so I had to pull the heads to check.
