99 stx 900 Need help with engine!!! HELP!!!!

I am currently rebuilding my 900stx that i recently purchased. I am down to installing the cylinders and stater plate, oil pump etc.
The bearing for the oil pump is shot, I am thinking of just removing it and running premix. I hate to because I love being lazy, BUT 300 smackers might relieve some of the lazy-ness. Has anyone ever removed the oil pump? What ratio premix to run? I ran my others at 40: 1 Does this seem sufficent?? Any other tech helps would be greatly appreciated..

I've done the same on a 900zxi. I left the pump on but disconnected the oil lines and ran 50-1. thats what most pwc's run. If you plan on running it hard all the time you can do 40-1. Usually people buy a block off plate and just do away with the pump.

How long have you been running premix? Did you just block the oil lines off where they go to the engine??

I would spend the $15 and get a block off kit. I am not comfortable leaving the oil pump in place with no oil being supplied to it. I have always felt that a dry pump turning 7000 rpms with no oil supply could sieze and possibly cause a problem???

If you do go premix will want to get some vacuum caps the same size as the oil lines and put them on the oil inlets on all of the carbs (use zip ties to secure them to the oil inlet nipples). You might also need to richen the carbs up a tiny bit to compensate for the lack of oil injection.

Yeah I have the bearing and the shaft out now. I will make a block off plate. I hate to go premix, but 100.50 for two bearings that look like skate-board wheel bearings is just damn robbery. I hate to lose the lazy add oil and gas. Does anyone know what ngk plugs should be used in this engine??
