Well, my lowrance gps is now swimming with the fishes in the delaware river!!!!

+1 for Garmin. Although quite skeptical after purchase, I walked outside and thew it in the pool several times before taking it out to the river. It did in fact float...and quite well might I add. However, everything has it's limitations.

I agree, I don't have a pool so I threw mine in the bath. I attach my garmin to my life vest via the strap and I can't count the number of times I've come off, one really bad and it was there floating next to me. It has taken some good spills and drops and traveled the world over the past 3 years, still works like a champ.

wonder if it took a measurement of topspeed on its decent to the bottom

You guys have a model # for one that works well and has the abiltiy to fit into the holster than you can replace for the flip up glove compartment on an rxt??
