Can I run without it ???

On a 06 GTX SC, can I run the ski without the cone that comes with the Solas impeller? The one that screws into the impeller and creates a seal around the shaft?

The Solas impeller I ordered came with that piece, but it doesn't fit over the shaft. It fits over the first area of the shaft where the splines are, but won't slide over the area where the taper is. It looks as if it was made for a shaft that is the same diameter all the way through as the diameter of the splined area... WTF?

I am guessing the cone is for older GTX SC shafts, not the 06. The diameter of my 06 shaft is the same as the diameter of my RXP shaft. However, the GTX shaft tapers at the end and is allot narrower.

Where can I get the right cone?

alot of people run without the nose cone in place, but somethings hokie dochere

solas nose cone should fit. does this cone pop/push on or screw left handed threads into place?

did the solas prop fit the driveshaft perfectly? any pics...PR...

The cone pops in. Basically a rubber o ring around the outside that snugs with a bit of a pop onto the impeller.

The prop fits perfect. No problems that I can tell. But the shaft is definitely a larger diameter all the way to the end where it tapers and then the spines are cut.

I am going to pull the pump off to pitch the prop again so I'll snap some photos.

    cool, thanks...
I`m really surprised no one has mention this about the solas props before, at least I didn`t read about it...
the nose cone should go on the shaft. I hear what your saying about the larger part of the shaft.

here`s a parts list for dif year and model GTX`s...

drive shaft and drive shaft assy part numbers...

    2004 GTX SC
    271001449

2005 GTX SC .................2005 GTX SCIC LTD
    271001521 ....................271001507

2006 GTX SC ..................2006 GTX SCIC LTD
    271001554 .....................271001550

    2006 RXT
    271001550

so it appears that the 2006 GTX SCIC has the same diameter and spline drive shaft of the RXT...

can someone make some sense of this for me, what years did the props change from 155 to 159 and models, and what are the corresponding drive shafts to go with it?...PR...

    Here's some pics.

Note, I modified the cone by cutting it just before the second inside o ring so it would fit on the shaft in the space that was left after the impeller was on. 2nd pic shows approx what the cone looked like before I cut it...

It's allot wider at the base where it screws into the impeller, and, it fits over the shaft!

dochere, somethings freakin me out, you have a 2006 GTX SC, and the 13 prop has threads in it for the nose cone? the factory prop has threads as well? and the splines for the 12\20 and 13\19.5 are the same? I`m confused now?...PR...

No, the factory prop has threads for the cone, both Solas props cones pop into place...

Yes, the splines for all 3 are the same. At least they all fit the shaft the same...

Im trying to figure out what changes were made to the dif years. my 04 prop has a pop in nose cone, not threade. I was under the assumption that the threaded props were for the larger shaft RXT/GTX SCIC/RXP with 159mm pumps...PR...
