Are the small jet boats considered a (PWC)?

Today I was working and couldn't go out on the water but my friend said they were telling another small jet boat operator that he had to have a life vest on at all times. I'm confused it's a jet-boat not a jet-ski...Anyone know if there is any truth to this? Are the jet-boats considered a PWC? I live in New Jersey Thanks for any info...

    where you at in NJ?
I don`t think it`s mandatory to wear a PFD on a boat...I`m pretty sure children have to wear PFD`s.
and we all know you have to wear one on any ski...PR...

    What is it registered as?

Are you paying taxes for a boat or PWC?

Last I knew it was a boat, not sure of the definition of a pwc, but usually you ride on them, not in them, I think. Not an expert, and no I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

    PWC
A small, lightweight craft designed to be either sat-on or stood-on with motorcycle-like handlebars and squeeze throttle, usually jet-propelled.

    BOAT
small vessel for travel on water

    question

The way Connecticut defines a PWC or Boat is a PWC is a watercraft that you are about to ride on top of. A boat you sit in. Im sure NJ its the same way, just make sure the kids have the vests and adults take the risk.

What if you take all the seats out of your boat, does it become a PWC???
Could save you a lot of money on your boat incurance....

Seats or no seats, you still sit in a boat and on a PWC. The only difference with a boat w/o seats is a sore butt !!

Yeah back when I had my '95 Speedster a water cop tried to tell me that line of crap too. I called his bluff and he went about his business since there was nothing he could do.
