    Solas Prop fit

Hi there, I just bought a solas impeller and it won't fit in the pump??! The diameter of the impeller is too big. It almost fits, but to get it in I would have to force it, and there is no way it would be able to turn. The part number on the impeller is HACD 17/29. It came from parker Yamaha. My ski is a 2003 F-12X. The pump is stock with 170 hours on it. The stock impeller fits in there just fine. I did a search for this type of problem and got nothing. Has anyone ever heard of this?
    Thanks, Wilson

    1)part mislabeled
2)wear ring swollen (you ride in salt?)
    3)part diam not cut properly.

check service manual for wear ring diam and tolerance..if within spec then the solas is messed up.

Yes, I ride in salt sometimes, and the previous owner of the ski rode in salt almost all the time. The wear ring can swell and make the opening smaller from this? Sound like its time for a new pump maybe.

The ID of the pump stator is 155.4mm (6.12)
The OD of the prop 154.6mm (6.09)

Prop Clearance to Stator .3-.5 mm (.01-.02)

    Measure what you got.

If the stock impeller fits, and the Solas doesn't it's probably a swollen wear-ring. The stock impeller will wear as it bulges to fit the pump as it grows. I haven't seen many cases of impellers being too large from the Solas, but it is always a possibility.
If your pump is bulged, you'll see burn marks at the high spots when you look in the pump (easier after removing it). If that's the case, we can remove the stainless piece, and insert a new stainless steel ring.
    Good luck,
    David

Todd, you're wise enough to be on this forum.. so today it pays off- never do that again. Call and i'll explain how it can actually throw you into limp mode when you're miles from the ramp. Cost you a minimum 200 bucks guarenteed if you do this on any ski ever again, bro.

Unless you have a plastic liner..that is the exception.
