What's Should I use To Repair This Gouge In The Gelcoat?

Whats the best stuff to use to repair this small gouge thats in my Sportsters Hull? Looks like it's just in the White gelcoat. Any tips on what to use or tips on making the repair are much aprreciated...I think the boat just rubbed on the metal bracket for the trailer tailight when I was bringing it out of the water today.

No answer, but listening... I launched at a lake yesterday that didn't have a floating dock and the water was down a couple of feet, so the wind slammed the boat into a sharp piece of the dock. Two huge gouges; heatbreaking (had to eventually just beach it to be able to pull the trailer out of the water without more dock damage).

Go to Spectrum Color and buy one 2 ounce gelcoat patch paste repair kit - more than enough for that repair. Follow the instructions that are posted on their website:

You can buy gelcoat for less, but this is good stuff, color matched, and very easy to work with.

You will need to get the gelcoat fixed, you can purchase the factory color gelcoat from Gelcote International. Here are couple of videos for the repair.

I wouldn't touch it unless there was fiberglass showing....unless you're a pro,it's almost impossible to match the color(been there, done that)....

Back when we were racing I would make a quick repair with JB Weld and never had a problem with it.

That looks a bit light to worry about, but Marine Tex is a product I've used and had good results with. It's a two part epoxy, that you mix together and then apply. Sold at Boaters World iirc.
