99 XPL lanyard problem
Just recently my wifes XPL developed a wierd lanyard problem. When the lanyard is pulled the motor keeps running! You can shut it off by the red stop switch but thats just not safe. The motor can even be refired without the lanyard for up 5 plus minutes before it resets itself.

It's either deto, or someone changed the wiring of that ski.
There is no way for that MPEM to run without having the 8-byte "code" from the lanyard.
Do you have an aftermarket DC-CDI maybe? Open the grey box, possibly there's an MSD or something in there.

I would say there is a very high chance it's the dess post. I don't have my xpl in front of me but there is a quick disconnect I believe under the top glove box. try unplugging it and see if the ski shuts off. the magnetic contacts in the post does get stuck at times.
the mpem only needs to read the key initially. once a ski is running , you can put a magnet over the post and remove the key and the ski will continue running until the magnet is moved away from the post.
