Ok guys My friend needs some help. he has a 2000 xr1800 and one motor shuts down on its own. He did some normal service and sat on the sensor that goes in the exhaust and now it shuts down. So the question is if that sensor in damaged or bad could it cause this shutting down problem. If not what else could cause this....

make sure the the switches located in the cleanout plug hatch are fully depressed. You can have someone hold it down or tape nickels to the hatch , then close it.
Try swapping the exhaust sensor from the good engine to the bad one.
