    2001 GP1200R- Is this a good deal?

Looking at purchasing a 2001 GP1200R with 99 hours, umi bars and a single trailer for around $3500-$4000. Is this a good deal?

Is there anything in particular that I should check out with the mechanics on a ski that is 6 years old. I want to get a reliable ski and slowly add performance.

    Thanks-

Just my 2 cents- Check for oil in the bottom of the hull. This year model amongst others are notorious for the oil lines backing off. If you do buy it, remove the oil pump immediatley and go pre mix to avoid seizure due to no oil. Ask to see if the catalatic converter has been removed- if not remove it and put in a d-plate. I also reccomend wave eater clips. You cant visably see the last 2 I mentioned but checking for oil and lots of gunk in the bottom of the hull is a start and a must. Others will chime in because as you know or will find out their is tons of knowledge on this forum. good luck

As far as speed when I take it out to test run it...should it be in the high 50's? If lucky low 60's?

    Thanks-

You should be in the low 60's. Thats a fair price assuming its clean.

CHECK COMPRESSION !!!! Takes 10 minutes and a $25 guage

One way to check if it has a D-plate is to see if it has a cat temp sensor chip installed instead of the wire.
