Go buy yourself a can of "the right stuff" and use that. You'll also be able to use it on a lot of other mods that you do.

Does this also apply to the coating of the ride plate bolts???

How long do you normally let this stuff cure prior to introducing it back into the water???

Ride plate holes can be done with epoxy. Green Hulk used to have his blog explaining how he put little pieces of rope around the bolts and then filled it. This way you won't damage the bolts if you have to ever remove the epoxy. Usually you should wait around 24 hours until hitting the water again unless the package says otherwise..

I heard aluminum foil works great around the bolts as well.

on the threads of the bolt, yes. no epoxy on the threads! I've used ski's 24 hrs. after applying the Ultra Black and one of the two times some of it pulled out so I've been waiting at least 36 hrs and have not had a problem.
