Help 1996 sltx 1050 rpm problems
Another greenhorn asking for help guys...
Bought two used skis...
A 1996 sltx 1050
A 1999 slth 700
The 99 runs great but you cant just idle around was going to try and turn up idle screw.
The 96 idles great runs out of the water great.
In the water is a different story, throttle it and you run about 4000 rpm till you choke it real quick, feather the throttle or hit a wave just right then it wraps out and your doing 50 easily across the water.
Have read alot of your thoughts, fixes and other postings.
Was wondering where I should start, plugs are new, water seperator was dump out and let refill, trimmed spark plug wires. Everything that I can think of I tried. Opened CDI box and had water in it ( could this cause my problem)
Havent had ski out since water found and plug wires trimmed.

Check the bottom of the electrical board, if there is rust replace the 22.00 board.
Have you cleaned the internal carb filters yet?
How do the plugs look after a WOT plug chop?

Have you found where or why the water entered the electrical box??

Couldnt find where water came in bolts on box werent completely tight. Figured that was that board was rust and corrosion free...
Maybe head to lake one day this weekend to see if trimming plugs and eliminating water in CDI resolved problems.
Have not cleaned filters in carbs...

Before you head out, try filling the hull with water and checking for a leak into your hull.
You only need to add enough water to cover the thru hull fitting, make sure no water gets to the box or intake.
How did the electrical box seal look?

Oh the water in the hull was a buddy of mine rolled it several times out screwing around...Ran the bilge and cleaned out water I rode it for a day after that and no water but I didnt roll it either... This machine was running great till just one day started acting up... Seal on Cdi was still flexible and no cracks...
Hope I got a goos deal on these two skis and trailer for $5000.00

Check your seat seal and make sure it's good. Also check the seat adjustment as they need to be tightened as the seal wears if you want to keep the engione compartment free of water.
