SL750 Was runiing great, now wont start

    Hey all,

Pressed my luck I guess. Had a great weekend ride yesterday, family had a great time. On my last ride of the day, I hit a wake and lost throttle control. Was able to idle back tot eh marina and get it on the trailer.

I must not have tightened the throttle cable down enough and she shook loose after the jump. Only tool I did not have in my kit yesterday was a philips screwdriver. S I could not take the FA off to get at the throttle body. 5 minute fix int eh garage.

Took her (and the family) out today, let the girls go first they had a great ride. When it was my turn, I took her across the lake (very choppy and rough today) and on the way back at about 3/4 throttle, I hit a wake, landed and she stalled out. I was able to get her running again, but something was off. When I would stp, she stalled and when I would try to start again, I would hear a great starter, good fire, then a puff or whoosh sound. was able to limp back to the dock and get her on the trailer.

No water in the engine or engine compartment
    Good spark
    Good Fuel
    Good color to the plugs.

Only thing I can figure was maybe timing????????? Could I have sheared the WK and spun the magneto?????? I could not restart once out of the water.

What should I look for first befoer I pull the engine again?

    Thanks

    Sean

Start with a compression test. Then maybe pull the flywheel cover and see if it is the WK.

    Sean,

I bought my kit from jkwaterparts on Ebay. It was a WSM kit. He has single cylinder kits in oversize. Here's a link to a 750 piston kit for $71.99.

They do sell pistons individually at Wiseco. Google search them and try that, or get the WSM kit cheaper as previously mentioned.
