    Towing

    Hey all,

Is this the hose that needs to be pinched or a ball valve adapter put in place if the need to tow occurs? The hose has writing on it that states "Gates Green Stripe II Heater Hose 3/4. It also has a red piece of tape wrapped around a portion.

    Yes I believe so.

Side note (story about nothing) - For the past few days I've been seeing these two "kids" on a new RXP on the lake I ride. Figuring they had 10+ hours on it because of their constant WOT I asked and found they only had 1.5. Last night, day 3, I saw them being towed in because they had sucked up a rope. I told them that they shouldn't be towed more than 5 mph and before I could explain I saw that dumb ass grin I recalled when they told me they had only 1.5 hours...so I just rode on.

So we need to block the hose off if we need towed in? Why I never heard of this before if its important? Let me know if I need to install a shutoff valve also.

This procedure is in your owner's manual. Sea Doo makes a clamp specially for this and I have even heard of some people using a pair of vise grips to pinch the hose.

if you don't block it off while under tow your waterbox will fill with water and back up into any open intake valves in your engine.

This sucks with the seapoo skis. I never had to worry about it with any kawi skis that I owned. I guess I better carry vise grips with me just in case I ever need a tow.

Well you should have worried, any open loop ski is subject to it, unless you tow GENTLY, like under 5 mph.

I would say i have towed my RXP atleast a total of 10 hours behind my boat last summer .. no problems !

you have been VERY lucky Crazed!

The exhaust AND intercooler is cooled by lake water. Water can come in thru the exhaust and fill up your engine thru any open exhaust valves.

Ready your manual, it tells you to pinch the hose off when towing!
