    Make My Own Wear Ring?

I have a 06' Utopia SE and there are no Stainless Steel wear rings availible for non-SC'd 4-TEC engines. My father ownes a machine shop and I was thinking about having him make a few Stainless Steel rings based of the measurements off the OEM verisons. Has anybody given this a thought? Would it work?

yes it works, i have done it for my 96xp. keep the clearance between the impellor and the wear ring to 0.010" and you should be fine. other than the cost of stainless material, it is a good upgrade in my opinion.

How long does the epoxy last? What are you using?

PC11 2 part epoxy, used to hold on skegs....can get it at home depot...

on a used ring, fill in the deep holes with eposy, but use a popsicle stick to flatten THIN coat all the way around....if its too thick, the prop will bind. Try to knock downt he high spots as it dries, will take 24 hours to cure, but once dry and sanded, tolerance is TIGHT...

I'm about to do another one, will take pictures this time around...

$2 of epoxy and 5 minutes of my time is better than repairing a $350 prop...
