    Compression test necessary? (SC 4tec)

I'm looking at a used 2003 GTX SC. It just had a compression test done on it 10 hours ago. Assuming a water test shows ~7400 RPM's and ~60MPH, do you see any reason to still do a compression test? (Local dealer is backed up two weeks, and I'm running out of summer )

Whenever buying a used boat it is a really good idea IMO to do a compression test on the engine. A leak down test is even better but at the minimum do a compression test. Ideally you want all of the cylinders to be within 10 percent of each other.

    Good luck...

    Washers

I believe the 03 SCs came stock with metal washers. BRP with their infinete wisdom switched to ceramic washers in 04.

    So I am told.
