RPMs specs say rev limiter @ 8000?

I am new to all this but I have been reading that a lot of you are getting over 8000 RPMs, my owners manuel in the back under specs says the rev limiter is at 8000 rpms so how is it that your going past that??

    Just curious

    Thanks

On my 04 the limiter is at 8200 rpm's. Not sure on the 05-06 models, but I thought they were 8200...

I have a SeaDoo Dealer watercraft CD and it says the 2004 RXP rev limiter is set for 8300 rpm on stock ECU.

The CD has a section on all the updates to the 04 model. It talks about camshaft and piston changes etc. It says the mph gauge goes to 80 mph and the rpm gauge goes to 9000 rpm. I do not think my mph goes past 70. The most I ever had with GPS was 69.9 on stock. Im soon to find out different with my mods. The CD also gives the time allowed per job for the tec's at the shops. I bought it on ebay last year.

If i remember how it was explained to me the rev limiter is 8300 but the soft limiter is 8200. You can run against the soft limiter all day long but will only hit the actuall 8300 if you're out of the water (airborne or on trailer i guess)...

i think that's true... while in the water i'm pinned at 8200 currently with my mods.... when i hit chop my ski shoots up to 8250 and 8300, but i never see that while hooked up in the water.

I wonder if it's just the rpm meter screwing up like when you have a stock ski telling you you are going 70mph on the dreamo meter.
