Exit Nozzle grinding and ride plate.

The R&D exit nozzle comes so you don't have to grind on it to fit the ride plate. What about the Riva one - do you still have to grind on it. I am assuming so.

You have to grind the R&D one. Not sure who told you different but you have to grind both the pump and the nozzle.

I am assuming this is a modded ride plate. Just not a stock Riva or R&D unit.

I had a R&D nozzle and a R&D Plate. The R&D plate stock fit with everything in stock form. No grinding required. It is like this with all of them I believe. Then I sent it off to Jim for his FF mod. I had to grind the R&D nozzle to get it to fit.

And trust me, if the plate is stock your going to want it modded so you will be grinding no matter what you do.

I think the Riva black nozzles are made by R&D. They do have less material on the bottom, but with a lot of angle on the plate they will have to be ground on a bit.

Dont forget you can make a notch in the top of the plate (on the lip).

I have an R&D plate. That is my only mod. You have to grind like hell on the pump for it to fit. I think the R&D nozzle comes so if you are putting on the R&D ride plate no grinding is needed. If jim works on it then you will have to. The riva one looks like a stock exit nozzle but just 87mm instead of 85mm so i am assuming that needs to be ground for the r&d plate to fit. Correct?

The original Riva 87mm nozzel was like the R&D black nozzel but it was silver or visa versa and it also requires a fair amount of grinding with a R&D plate thats modified for more angle or at least it sure did on mine. I think Riva now uses the factory Yamaha 87 mm Nozzel I don't see the other one in their catalog.

Now if you using a standard R&D plate with know modification it probably doesn't require any grinding at all. But if I personally was going put on an R&D plate I would go ahead and send it Jim1300 at performance and get the ff mod done to it. But thats just me. Good luck hope all go's well for ya.
