    Front Storage Compartment Latch

I just did the Ram Air Mod on my ski and did take the cover off completely. When I put it back together, the latch which someone told me was a gas strut does not hold the compartment door open anymore. I open it and it just falls down now. Is there a quick fix for this or do I have to buy a new one? If I have to buy a new one, do I have to get it from kawasaki or can I get it elsewhere? I have no clue where to shop for one of these. If anyone knows a part number, that would be great! Thanks in advance!

Kawasaki's website has exploded parts diagrams for the 250X. Check it out.

Did you reattach it to the hood? I know it is a simple question, but aligning and reattaching the gas strut was the hardest part.

For those thinking about doing this mod:

As I said in an earlier post, there is no need to take the hood apart unless you really want to see what is under there.

Dremel the front and drill the holes in the rear. Blow out with air or if you use the flowrites the debris is trapped anyway.

It is reattached to the hood and everything else is put back together. I open the hood and it doesn't have the pressure anymore the hold the hood open. Not a big deal right now cause I don't go into that compartment more than once a weekend, but I would like to fix it nonetheless.

Mine did the same thing when I did the ram air mod. I took it apart again and put it back together and it worked fine then. I dont know if something was put together wrong or if the strut was bound up on the boot but it worked.

    Gas Strut

I have had my hood completely apart several times with my XM Satellite mod I added. I did notice that you MUST line up the bracket holes and place the bolts in them first. Kind of tricky, but sounds like that is what happened to lose your compression.

    Just my own opinion... Jim
