    What happened to this piston?

Well I pulled the head today to see what the wash looked like and I found this surprise. Looks like it was running lean. What do you think?

your lean on #3, that wasnt the problem. The centering pin on the piston moved in. ring spun caught the exhaust port and broke the ring landing off the piston. time for some pro x pistons my friend.

You mean the little pin that keeps the piston ring from spinning? What makes Pro-X pistons better?

Always has to happen in the middle of the season too. So what's so much better about Pro-X pistons, I know lots of people prefer them.

Also where's a good place to buy pistons?

bainer, what year gpr is that? 2001, 2002? The new style oem pistons are much better now and wont allow the ring to spin. You can find oem type pistons @ boats.net and I think jerry is offering oem parts now as well.

I wish I knew. I just got the ski going this year, engine was bought off eBay. I don't think they have that many hours as they were in really good shape when I tore it down before this season. The pistons that are in there were Wiseco 710 series, looks like Wiseco doesn't make that series anymore. Replaced by 757 series now, from what I can find I think that happend around 2004.

Lets see more pics of the cylinders and pistons.
Looks like the ring is still there looks like something might have gone through the motor.
