96 GTX Oil Low
Hi.. I tried searching in the forum with little or no results. My wife's 1996 GTX recently started with the 'OIL LOW' indicator along with the OIL light. We obviously checked the reservoir and it was half full. We topped it off and reset the indicator (by disconnecting battery). It came back on a bit later. Took the ski to the dealer... they tested it (TWICE) and said they found no problems. IT can go for a couple of hours without any warning then the indicators come back on. Obviously the motor is getting the oil injection as I'm sure it wouldn't last too long. I'm thinking of pre-mixing but if it's just a faulty sensor then it shouldn't be necessary. Has anyone ever experienced this? If I want to exchange the sensor is there just the one and where is it? Thanks in advance...

Never had that problem when I had my 96, but I would guess now that it's 11 yrs old anything is possible. If I remember correctly the sensor is top & center of the oil tank. Unhook the clip from wire harness, twist & pull out the sensor. I'm about 90% sure on this.

Thanks, Ken. I was thinking it maybe is a float but if it's at the top it may be a pressure (sort of) sensor. I will check it out tomorrow. It doesn't affect performance at all...just annoying (like the damn engine light on my Inteprid R/T). lol.
