    Rear Exhaust

I have a Riva Rear exhaust exit with a modified water box.

Out Yesterday jumping a few big waves when landed hard down at the rear the engine started miss firing I think water had got back into the engine from the exhaust exit . Has this ever happened to any one else , also what about a covered exit say at 90 deg or even a flap to stop water getting up the pipe on landing ? Any Ideas ?

    Thanks

very very very unlikely that with the exhaust setup you mentioned the water went backwards into the motor like that...

more like water inside the hull and you jumped a wave and the water in the hull splashed into the air intake

i get this as well if i just do a low speed wave and come down on my tail , i posted a thead a while ago and was told it was water mist comeing in threw the rear air opening under seat, a flo rite filter should sort the problem

I don't have any personal experience with this problem, GP has mentioned that it does happen to surf jumpers when landing with the tail down at pretty good angle. Maybe a Kawasaki outlet that turns down would help, have no idea if it would fit.

BTW, it's possible water may not be getting into the engine but filling the water box so full of water that it takes a few seconds to clear it out.

I had this once also...couple of seconds and it was clear...intake is at the front with outerwears so don't think it was from that end?....hit some good ones yesterday sank the rear deep couple of times but no problems?

maybe this is going in through the b.o.v which might be open?

Could it be the TOPS kicking in?

cant see it being tops as you are of revs,if its not mist/spray comeing in from rear id go with shibby ,as the front end goes up water goes in your in take, ive had it on stock and R&D intakes

What happens when the tops kicks in could be this but not sure of the effect, no water in hull so likely to be this .

Does the tops just fully cut the engine out or what ?
    Thanks
