    crancase bolt torque

    Havent received my service manuel yet. I need the torque rating for the 8 lower crank case bolts under the aluminum caps and the 15 small ones around the outside of the crank case

    Jim, M-8 bolts are 17ft-lbs.....M-10 bolts ...uhh...says (30+40ftlbs.)I take it that means 30-40ft/lbs? Freakin' French

    service procedure calls for blue loctite as well....

    I think you go 30 on all then retorque em all to 40.

    Thanks now all the bearings are new I can bolt the cases to gether while I wait for my ported camed head

    Steve is correct. In this pic "no. 3" refers to the part designation of the inner eight bolts and the "no. 7" refers to the part designation of the fifteen perimeter bolts (not to be confused with the #3 & #7 bolts in the torque sequence).

    JimC... I have a head sitting on my bench right now that I want to have ported. Do you have any particulars about your head that you would be willing to share (cost, parts, turn around time, etc). You can PM if you like.
