    gp1200 fuel sensor

Hey guys, gotta buddy with 98 gp1200. Every time he starts the thing the fuel sensor alarm goes off and he has to hit the mode button for it to shutup. fuel sensor is $154.00 he doesn't want to spend the money if there is a way to bypass it. IS THERE? Thanks.

you can try pulling it and tying the sensor up. I know the oil pump you can jumper the wires and it fools it into thinking it is full, might work on the fuel

I repaired mine a couple of months ago. You can take the fuel sender unit out, and take out the fuel float. Most likely the float no longer floats. Cut it down to just the magnet area, buy a carb float from your local auto parts store (nitrophyl), cut that down, resin the cut down carb float to the magnet, and voila... his fuel sending unit will work again.
